Often people who are interested in KickStart 3D have lots of questions. This is great! Hopefully the answers below will help you out!
What amount of the work load will take place at school?
The majority of the course happens outside of school hours, with the exception of the Mentor Time component. However, with that said, you may choose to meet outside of school hours as you may be part of a group that meets at your local church.
When I complete the course, what do I get from it?
Students who have participated in KickStart 3D have grown in their faith, learnt more about their identity in Christ, gained a clearer understanding of their gifts, have made some awesome new friends and learnt heaps about what it means to be a follower of Christ.
Does KickStart 3D give me credit towards my Certificate of Education?

How much does it cost?

What does the Mentor Time component involve?
This is where the students from your school or church come together and discuss the online content and practical experiences they have been working through. This happens on average every week for 8 weeks per term and takes about 1.5 hours. The online materials are prepared and part of the overall package of the program. Students who don’t have access to a group can work through the program one-on-one with a mentor.
Our School/Church wants to deliver this program. What is required from them?
There are a few key things. Firstly you will need to appoint a Mentor as the central contact for the school/church. This person must be suitably qualified and facilitates discussion based on the experiences you have participated in and the online material you have been working through. Groups usually meet on a weekly basis as part of the group component. Students who don’t have access to a group can work through the program one-on-one with a mentor.
I want to do it, but my school/church doesn’t have a group. Can I still participate?
Absolutely! KickStart 3D will make every endeavour to help you participate in the course. There are various delivery methods available. Please contact your KickStart 3D State Coordinator for more information. You can participate in the program one-on-one with a mentor. To supplement this experience we will connect you online with students across the country to share your experiences with.
It seems very Christian. How can KickStart 3D be offered at a public school?
KickStart 3D comes under the Vocational Education and Training banner at your local high school. Therefore any student can choose to do KickStart 3D just like they choose other VET courses like hairdressing, mechanics, hospitality etc. So it doesn’t matter on the faith persuasion of the school, any student, from any school who would like to do KickStart 3D can participate.
How is KickStart 3D assessed?
There are no exams. KickStart 3D is based upon participation, involvement, presentation of materials learned, and completion of practical & online tasks. All work is assessed by the RTO.
How do I use the Certificate III in conjunction with my High School education?
It is your responsibility to ensure your VET Coordinator knows you want to do KickStart 3D and that you are correctly enrolled. KickStart 3D can assist in supplying the correct documentation needed for this to happen.
Is KickStart 3D additional to, or instead of other subjects?
KickStart 3D can be taken as an additional subject to normal school subjects, depending on your pathway. However, it is normally done instead of one year 11 or 12 subject.
What do I do when it comes time to submit subjects for next year?
Students would normally note on their school subject selection form that they are intending to do a VET course in addition to other school subjects when it is submitted. KickStart 3D can provide the school with the formal information that they need, and advise the school when your enrolment has occurred. KickStart 3D will also take care of submitting your assessment to the school in time for inclusion in the end of year marking process.
Do I have to have a group of students from my school or church to do KickStart 3D?
Students need to be part of a group or work through the program one-on-one with a mentor as part of the KickStart 3D course. It is our opinion that the program has a more full experience if you are able to join or create a peer group of student to journey with. This is made easier if there is group from your school or church who also want to do the course. However, we will assist you to join with a group in your area if this is not possible or where needed, we can assist you to connect online with other students.
